Ocho Rios
In Ocho Rios (where the condo is located) you will find a large Arts & Craft Market with an abundance of local crafts. Bargain with the vendors to get some good deals.

Dunn's River Falls
Just outside of Ocho Rios you will find the famous Dunn's River Falls where you can stop and climb the falls or swim at the beach.

Fern Gully
Another attraction close to Ocho Rios is Fern Gully which is an old river bed converted to a main road between Ocho Rios and Kingston. Another must see.

River Rafting
Try river rafting on the Martha Brae River. This attraction is located a few miles inland from Falmouth which is about 20 miles from Ocho Rios. The rafting trip, which usually will last about an hour, will float all of your troubles away.

Montego Bay
If you drive to Montego Bay you can find hotels such as Rose Hall and Holiday Inn along the way. Take a stop at the haunted Rose Hall plantation if you dare. Once you get to Montego Bay there is much to explore and any trip to Mo Bay would not be complete without a swim at Doctor's Cave Beach, a beach of long time fame.

Tours
There are many half and full day tours available at Hotel Grand tour desk. These tours take you to the many attractions in Jamaica.

Boat Tours
It is very pleasant to take a small boat and cruise along the Ocho Rios coast line. You will see many lovely villas and scenery which cannot be scene from the road.

RESTAURANTS

The Almond Tree
The Almond Tree is a 5 minute walk from the condominium. It has one of the most romantic dining settings in Jamaica. Dinner and lunch is served on a lovely terrace on a cliff high above the Caribbean Sea. The view is spectacular and the varied menu excellent. Prices are reasonable for a special dinner. The food is consistently good as is the service.

The Jamaica Grand
The Jamaica Grand Hotel is situated in the very heart of Ocho Rios and is within walking distance. It has several restaurants ranging from the formal dining room to the coffee shop. An excellent buffet is available on the main terrace of the ground floor.

The Blue Cantina
This very unassuming little place is just outside the gates of Carib Ocho Rios. It is justifiably famous for it's tacos. Experienced Jamaican travelers rate it highly. They also serve many other good dishes and prices are very modest.

The Mahogany Beach Grill
An elegant full menu restaurant featuring seafood, steak and native fare. Located on the property in a romantic setting.

Chins
Chins is a casual, lively spot with a good menu and drinks. It is located just outside the Carib Gates.

The Ruins
The Ruins Restaurant is located just on the edge of Ocho Rios and has a spectacular setting. There is an abundance of flora and a large waterfall at which the base of the restaurant resides.

SPORTS

Sea Sports
Snorkeling, scuba diving, para-sailing and more are all available from the beach at Carib or from the Grand Hotel.

Tennis
Tennis can be played at most of the local hotels, however you may need to arrange to pay a fee at the front desk. Confirm his with the hotel prior to making any plans to play.

Golf
The private Upton Golf Course and Country Club is located nearby and welcome Carib vacationers. The club is approximately ten minutes drive from Carib.

TRANSPORTATION

Taxi
Upon your arrival in Montego Bay Airport you can hire a taxi to take you to Ocho Rios. It should cost you about US$50. You can make arrangements with a local or Tropical Tour Bus Lines for the return trip to the airport or for trips around the ifssland. Tropical Tours has an office at the Carib Ocho Rios front office.

Car Rental
Unless you want to tour the rest of the island, you will not need to rent a car. You will be in Ocho Rios, one of the main cities on the island with all of the excitement the city has to offer. If you do wish to rent a car, we can assist you with the reservation so the car will be waiting for you at the airport upon your arrival or it can be delivered to Carib when it is required.

Car rentals are paid in US currency. As an example, a small Toyota Starlet with standard gearshift seating 4 adults, will cost about US$300 per week plus 15% GCTax and US$10 per day insurance. All of this translates to roughly US$400 for a one week rental, excluding gas. Prices increase with larger cars and automatic transmissions.

SERVICES

Food Shopping
Based on your estimated arrival in Jamaica, we can arrange to have some basic food items ready for you. We can also prepare dinner on the evening of your arrival and a breakfast for the following morning; the remaining meals are arranged between you and Daphne. A bill will be left with Daphne and it will be your responsibility to settle it with the supermarket or the person who extended the credit.

If you need refreshments, we can have some of the local rum (which is excellent and cheap), perhaps some cokes and the local Red Stripe beer ready upon your arrival.

Information
The condominium is looked after by Daphne who has been with us for over 15 years. She is an excellent cook and keeps the condo in beautiful condition. She is a fountain of information and will help you in any way she can.

RATES

Reservations
Reservations made by telephone or by e-mail will be held for 7 (seven) days after which a deposit of 25% is required to confirm the reservation. The remainder is payable no later than 30 days before departure.
